Dr lesley Castellini

LAc, DC | Chiropractor / acupuncturist

Growing up I had too many interests and ideas as to what I wanted to aspire to from photojournalist, professional tennis player to forestry and marine biology. One theme was consistent – I could not sit still all day!

I was introduced to chiropractic in high school. I was hooked. Sixteen years later in private practice, I was introduced to acupuncture and I said I want to do this too!

At the time, I was a single parent of 3 strong-willed, beautiful daughters, traveling to New York City for 3 years while maintaining a private practice in New Jersey. I completed my Masters in acupuncture.

Combining these 2 different professions has been a life-changing experience for me, opening my world to many different options while improving patients lives.

The greatest gift of all.

Styles of Acupuncture

I was trained in different styles of acupuncture including Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture Physical Medicine, Japanese, and Auricular Acupuncture.

Utilizes specific acupuncture points on the body to treat a wide range of signs and symptoms. Tongue and Pulse diagnosis is commonly used.

Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM)

Developed by Mark Seem, founder of Tri-State College of Acupuncture, APM uses extensive palpation to find where the patient has become constrained leading to pain and tight musculature. APM mixes meridian acupuncture with Western techniques, most notably trigger point dry needling, which was taught by the late Janet Travell, MD.

Utilizes palpation of the abdomen, radial artery and meridians to guide diagnosis and treatment. Japanese Acupuncture uses finer needles and requires less stimulation than traditional Chinese acupuncture.

This theory uses the ear as a representation of the entire body. This can be used alone or in conjunction with body acupuncture. Ear acupuncture is used extensively in smoking cessation and with drug and alcohol addiction treatment utilizing the NADA protocol
